- 2 cups (250 g) all-purpose flour
- 1 cup (225 g) unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
- 1/4 cup (50 g) granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 6–8 tablespoons (90–120 ml) cold water
- 6 cups (600 g) apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 3/4 cup (150 g) brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon butter, to dot
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in cold butter until crumbly.
- Add cold water, one tablespoon at a time, until dough forms. Divide in half and refrigerate.
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In another bowl, toss apples with brown sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Roll out one dough half and fit into a pie pan. Fill with apple mixture and dot with butter.
- Roll out second dough half, place on top, and seal edges. Cut slits for steam.
- Brush crust with beaten egg and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden.
Notes
- Use a mix of apples for better flavor.
- Let the pie cool for at least 30 minutes before slicing.
