- 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (28 oz) can diced tomatoes
- 1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce
- 1 (8 oz) package ziti pasta
- 2 cups (200 g) mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1/2 cup (50 g) grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef, onion, and garlic over medium heat until the meat is browned. Drain any excess fat.
- Add the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for about 10 minutes.
- Meanwhile, cook the ziti according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large bowl, combine the cooked pasta with the meat sauce and half of the mozzarella cheese.
- Transfer the mixture to a baking dish. Top with the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
- Feel free to add vegetables like bell peppers or mushrooms to the meat sauce for extra nutrients.
- This dish can be made ahead and refrigerated before baking—just add a few minutes to the cooking time.
