- 2 pounds (900 g) potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
- 1 cup (240 ml) heavy cream
- 1 cup (240 ml) whole milk
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup (100 g) grated Gruyère cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon (15 g) unsalted butter for greasing
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Grease a baking dish with butter.
- Layer the sliced potatoes in the dish, sprinkling minced garlic, salt, and pepper between the layers.
- In a bowl, mix the heavy cream and milk, then pour over the potatoes.
- Top with grated Gruyère cheese.
- Bake in the oven for 20 minutes, or until the cheese is golden and the potatoes are tender.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add some grated nutmeg to the cream mixture.
- Let the gratin sit for a few minutes before serving for better slicing.
