- 2 lbs (900 g) pork shoulder
- 1 cup (240 ml) barbecue sauce
- 1 onion, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
- Hamburger buns for serving
Instructions
- Place the sliced onions and minced garlic at the bottom of the slow cooker.
- Rub the pork shoulder with salt, black pepper, paprika, and crushed red pepper flakes (if using).
- Place the pork shoulder on top of the onions and garlic.
- In a bowl, mix barbecue sauce, brown sugar, and apple cider vinegar; pour over the pork.
- Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 8 hours or until tender.
- Shred the pork with two forks and mix with the sauce before serving.
- Serve on hamburger buns with additional barbecue sauce if desired.
Notes
- For extra flavor, marinate the pork in the sauce overnight.
- Use leftovers in tacos, sandwiches, or salads.
